Lady jailed for stealing Ghc4.6k from a miner

The Tarkwa District court sentenced a 25-year-old unemployed woman to two months in prison for robbing a small-scale miner.

According to the case's facts, on November 7, 2022, at around 4:30 am, the accused woman, Queenstabel Mintah, and another woman on the run, Maame Yaa, attacked the small-scale miner at the Tarkwa Railway station.

Eric Ankomah, the miner, was holding Ghc4,600 in cash at the time, which was snatched by the two women, who afterwards disappeared from the scene.

The victim then informed the Tarkwa Police about the robbery attack.

On April 11, 2023, the victim encountered the suspect in the Tarkwa Township and, with the aid of a few witnesses, managed to get her taken into custody.

Queenstable admitted guilt to the accusations presented against her in court, leading Mr. Charles Owusu Ansah's court to find her guilty of the crime.

She was also given a GHC 1,080 fine and a further 2 months in prison if she didn't comply.

All attempts to get her arrested have failed, therefore her accomplice is still at large.
